Ceramics

Everything I make starts with my hands. I grew up outdoors – gardening, digging, pocketing whatever the ground gave up – and that pull never left. Camping, damp leaves underfoot, rain on the tent, the creatures below and above and within. The studio is where all of that stays alive: my body bringing objects into being.

In the studio I'm calm and fully present, with nothing to reach for but the material in my hands. That's where the work comes from.

Shell Vessels

Out of years of making and remaking, one shape keeps surfacing – the shell – and it's the form I feel deeply connected to. What began as a passing motif has quietly become the center of what I make.

A shell has always struck me as a kind of home. I have a soft spot for snails – a mobile house built to last, carried wherever its owner needs to be, comfort attached to the body. Shells from the water hold the same secret: a vessel fused to the life inside it, part shelter, part temple. That image lived in my head long before my hands ever shaped it.

I’ve been exploring all the different textures colors and forms which can endlessly be rearranged to create something new each time. Every vessel is unique in itself. Just like nature.

My shell vessels will hold whatever you give them: candles, flowers, a small private treasure, the memory of something shared.
